King Edward VI High School

Year 9 pupils Yashwini, Rumaysa, Hinna, Fatimah-Zara and Lydia from King Edward VI High School joined the Young Ambassadors for RE scheme in 2018. In their application essay, they discussed the importance of learning about others’ beliefs and values for encouraging respect and understanding at the local, national and global level:

“Everybody‚Äôs beliefs differ but being educated about others helps us, not only to discuss these in a non-offensive way, but also to focus on the common themes we share so that we value difference.”

Since joining the YA4RE team, they have written blogs, organised a Holocaust assembly, interviewed staff about peace work at Coventry Cathedral, attended a talk on publishing in RE, and helped with a Gifted and Talented RE and British Values day at their school.
