Facing the main road, turn right. Walk past Distaff Lane on the right. Cross over the busy Queen Victoria Street at the lights. Facing you is the International Salvation Army headquarters, with the Millennium Bridge ahead.

Background information

The Salvation Army, an organisation that aims to aid all through ‘compassionately reaching out to help people’ and by teaching the message of Jesus, has been on this site since 1888. The original 101 building was destroyed by fire in an air raid in May 1941. The windows of this new transparent building, opened in 2004, have quotations from the Gospels including “Jesus said, ‘I am the Light of the World.’”
