Caedmon Avenue

At the time of St Hilda, Caedmon worked as a cowherd at the Abbey. It was discovered that he had a talent for poetry and he is regarded as the earliest English poet. His only surviving work is the┬áHymn of Creation. Caedmon is commemorated in Poets’ Corner in Westminster Abbey.
