Deanery of Great Britain and Ireland

A community of Eastern Orthodox Christian parishes, the Deanery of Great Britain and Ireland has its origins in the Russian emigration of the early 20th century. Its founder and first head was Metropolitan Anthony of Sourozh (1914-2003).

The Deanery is part of the Archdiocese of Orthodox Parishes of Russian tradition in Western Europe under the Patriarchate of Constantinople.  In the spirit of Metropolitan Anthony, the Deanery has a long tradition of welcoming everyone and now encompasses a wide variety of nationalities, ethnicities and languages. Members of the Deanery are involved in a range of ecumenical activities includin  the work of SACREs, Churches Together in the British Isles, CTE and Local Churches Together.

Contributions to RE
