REC appoints a CEO

The REC is delighted to announce the appointment of its first chief executive officer: Rudolf Eliott Lockhart.  Dr Joyce Miller, Chair of the RE Council, writes:  ‘Rudi will be joining us on 1 February and I would like to congratulate him and to welcome him to the REC.

He is currently the deputy general secretary and head of research at the Independent Schools Council and he brings with him a wealth of experience in management and research. Members of the interview panel were immensely impressed by his intelligence and skills; we also believed that he was someone who shared our commitment to education and to collegial working within an umbrella organisation. We had no doubt that in Rudi we had found the right person to take the REC forward to an even stronger and more exciting future.’

Rudolf Eliott Lockhart writes:

It is a huge privilege to be taking up the position of Chief Executive Officer at the Religious Education Council of England and Wales.  The REC is an outstanding organisation that has been working tirelessly to promote high quality religious education.   I am looking forward to working with colleagues from across the REC’s member organisations to build on this good work.
